[LEXINGTON, Ky.] – In April 2013, Alltech announced a “Hoof Beats” media competition that will have three exceptional journalists packing their bags to attend and cover the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ 2014 in Normandy . Now there is just one month remaining for journalists to enter and be considered for one of three $5,000 Hoof Beats travel stipends to Normandy. Alltech will close entry to Hoof Beats at 12 a.m. EST on Feb. 1.
To be considered, journalists must submit published work meeting requirements for one of three Hoof Beat categories along with a completed application to Journalists must meet the following guidelines for each “Hoof Beat:”
The Gold Medal Equine Athlete Beat
Journalists must submit stories that shed light on an important issue in the world of equestrian sport, cover an extraordinary moment in the sport or characterize an influential figure from one of eight official disciplines competing at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ 2014 in Normandy. Stories should attempt to highlight Alltech’s involvement in equestrian sport, including coverage of the Alltech National Horse Show and mentions of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ 2014 in Normandy or the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ 2010 in Lexington, Ky.
The LIFEFORCE Range Equine Health Beat
Journalists must submit coverage investigating relevant, notable equine health and nutrition news. Stories should have a practical application for maintaining the health of all horses, with preference given to stories that explore the LIFEFORCE Range of supplements and the use of these nutritional supplements to achieve health care results.
The Celebrate Normandy Beat
Journalists should show talent and aptitude covering cultural events and lifestyle stories, with links to the Alltech brand and Normandy.
Members of the International Alliance of Equestrian Journalists (IAEJ) and Alltech officials will select Hoof Beats winners from a pool of finalists in early 2014. As part of the Hoof Beats stipend agreement, Hoof Beats winners must publish a minimum of five stories or photos online or in print during the Games.
Winners of the Hoof Beats Campaign will record a video acceptance speech upon receiving their stipend and a post-Games video recounting their experience as a Hoof Beats journalist. In addition, they will be recognized during the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ 2014 in Normandy. Alltech will commemorate the Hoof Beats winners’ coverage, as well as other exceptional works of journalism published during the Games, through a high-end publication printed after the Games.
During the Games, Hoof Beats winners must conduct their work independently of Alltech, publishing stories in amenable publications without influence or oversight from Alltech officials.
